Lawrence C. O'Keefe, 71, of Branford, passed away at Village Green of Wallingford on Wednesday January 18, 2012 after a lengthy illness.

He was born in New Haven on October 28, 1940, son of the late Lawrence P. O'Keefe and Helen McGarry O'Keefe. He was a graduate of Hamden High School 1958 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Providence College in 1962. While at Providence he was a member of ROTC, and upon graduation was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the US Army.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Bishop O'Keefe, his daughter Kelly Baran and her husband Jeffrey Baran, his son Timothy O'Keefe and his husband Ronald DeWitt, his two grandsons Joseph and William Baran. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Jean) O'Keefe of North Waterborough, ME, his sister Carol (Paul) Hanley, of Aztec, NM, and many nieces and nephews. Larry will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of the Catholic Church and as a friend of Bill W. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of the Tamarac Unit of the Village Green for the wonderful care he received there in his final years.

Friends may call at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford, Friday from 4-8 PM. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home Saturday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford, at 11 am. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.

Donations in his memory may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT, or the charity of one's choice.
