In Branford February 3, 2012, Edward S. Scherr, M. D., beloved husband of Janet Thompson Scherr of Branford.
Dr. Scherr was born October 26, 1930 in Bronx, NY, son of the late Max and Helen Salkowitz Scherr. He was a graduate of Marshall University in West Virginia, and a graduate of the University of Geneva medical school. He did his internship and residency at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital in NYC, and was a Fellow at the Yale University School of Medicine in Cardio-Pulmonary Disease. In 1961 he opened a practice in Branford Center with Dr. Marvin Zimmerman. The practiced moved to 960 Main St., Branford and joined with Dr. Robert A. Levine, Dr. Denis Miller and Dr. David Eilbott. He joined with Dr. Robert Aaronson at Digestive Disease Associates in Branford, and he worked with Dr. Harry Ardolino at the Stony Creek Medical Center in Branford until retiring.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Pamela Cohen of NC, Anthony Scherr of Brooklyn, NY, Peter (Cindy) Scherr of Hong Kong, Mary Jandon "Jandie" (Arthur) McSweet of North Haven and Eric Edward Scherr of Meriden; and his grandchildren, Samantha and Max.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening from 4 – 8 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford and are invited to a funeral service Wednesday at 2 pm in the funeral home. He will be buried in Rockford, MI.
