Francis F. "Sonny" Evon of Branford, died peacefully at Branford Hills Health Care Center, Monday April 28, 2008. He was the husband of the late Joan Keegan Evon.
Mr. Evon was born March 13, 1928 and was a lifelong resident of Branford. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday with a beautiful party surrounded by family and friends. For many years Mr. Evon owned and operated a recreational vehicle dealership called Save-Rite Trailer, first in North Branford, then in Branford He was a member of the carpenters union most of his life.
He is survived by his loving children Steve (Marcia) Evon, Carol Evon, Sharon (Joe) Bishop, Lori Evon and Robert Evon. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Tyler and Lexie Evon, and AJ and Jack Bishop. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Hannah of New Jersey. He was predeceased by a brother Stephen Evon, sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Joe Nailor, and brother-in-law, Robert Hannah. Mr. Evon's family would like to thank Addie Anderson and her family who were very dear to him after the passing of his beloved wife. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews.
His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Friday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 11:00. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 4 – 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Dining Room, 30 Harrison Ave., Branford, or to Branford Hills Health Care Center, 189 Alps Rd., Branford, 06405.
