In New Haven, May 1, 2008, Lorraine Altermatt of Howd Avenue, Stony Creek. Wife of the late John G. Altermatt. Mother of Linda Beard (Joseph) of Milford, John G. Altermatt Jr. (Judy) of Sharpsburg, GA., Alexander Altermatt (Patricia) of Stony Creek, and Robert Altermatt (Carol) of Northford. Sister of Alexander Karmazyn of Branford and Helen Vershish of Ft. Myers, FL. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Predeceased by her brothers Henry and Edward Karmazyn and sister Jenny Karmazyn.
Mrs. Altermatt was born in New Haven on August 11, 1932, a daughter of the late Alexander and Helen Labonowski Karmazyn. She grew up in East Haven and was a long time resident of Stony Creek.
Funeral from the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St. Branford Monday at 9:00 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 at St. Therese Church in Branford. Friends may call Monday morning from 8:00 to 9:00. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Stony Creek Fire & Rescue Company 5, 45 North Main St. Branford, Ct. 06405 or to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, Ct. 06457.
