At her home in East Haven, January 15, 2010, Helen K. Occhiboi, formerly of Branford, wife of the late Emil Occhiboi. Mother of Emil (Maria) Occhiboi of Brookfield, CT, Diane (Lawrence) Ganim of Trumbull, CT, Peter (Janelle) Occhiboi of Guilford, and Linda (Thomas) Maercklein of Branford. Sister of Mary (Harold) Anderson of Wallingford. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren; Robert, E.J., Christopher, Alex, Lauren, Michaela, Alyssa, Philip, Bryanna, Jessica, Erika, and Haley. She was predeceased by her brothers Walter and Steven Kotowski and her sister Anna Ostigny.
Helen was born in New Haven on January 23, 1934, a daughter of the late Roman and Rosalia Milewski Kotowski. She worked in the credit department for Sargent Manufacturing in New Haven for 34 years, retiring in 2004. She was a volunteer with the Our Lady of Pompeii Church for the Homeless Men's Shelter of New Haven and a volunteer at the Food Pantry in East Haven. She was an avid gardener and decorator.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 at the Our Lady of Pompeii Church in East Haven. Burial will be private. THERE WILL BE NO CALLING HOURS. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT 06405.
