In Connecticut Hospice, after a long illness, January 22, 2010, Catherine Taconis Shebell, wife of the late James A. Shebell, Sr. of 10 Field Place, Branford.
Beloved mother of James Shebell, Jr. of Branford, Craig (Christina) Shebell of Madison, and David (Rae) Shebell of Branford. Sister of Jessie Brockett of Branford and Winnie Mundinger of Marshfield, VT. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and was predeceased by a sister Martha Sweet.
She was born in Orangeburg, NY February 22, 1918, daughter of the late Harry and Marie Van Der Veer Taconis. She worked as an accountant at the former Suval's Department Store and Fleischmann's Department Store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Branford and had done missionary work for the church. She was a volunteer for the Branford Community Dining Room since 1985.
Friends are invited to a funeral service Wednesday morning at 11:00 in the First Baptist Church of Branford. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Branford. Family visitation will be prior to funeral at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Branford Community Dining Room, 30 Harrison Ave., Branford, or to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, or to the First Baptist Church of Branford, 975 Main St., Branford, CT 06405.
