In New Haven February 24, 2010, Lillian Chabinec Kootz, wife of the late Michael Kootz of 21 8th Ave., Branford.

Beloved mother of Kathleen A. (Paul) Rousseau of Miller Place, NY, Kevin M. Kootz of Tokyo, Japan, and Kim K. Sutton (Jeff Benton) of Guilford, grandmother of Karina Rousseau, Benjamin Sutton and Holly Emma Sutton all of Boston. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Phyllis Chabinec of New Haven, Mary Pattberg of Hudson, FL, and Luisa Chabinec of Madison, CT, many nieces, nephews, wonderful neighbors and friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Olga Collis and Helen Robertson, and brothers Myron and Bohdan Chabinec.

She was born January 26, 1922 in New Haven, daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna Kupecki Chabinec. She worked for many years for Echlin's in Branford before retiring, and she also had worked for Hilltop Orchards. She was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Haven, and the Ukrainian Women's Immaculate Conception Society. She volunteered at the Branford Senior Center, and belonged to the Branford Swimmers Club, and was a slot machine professional.

Her funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford, Saturday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Branford at 11:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. Friends may call Friday from 4 – 8 PM.
